CAN INDIA REALLY BOYCOTT CHINESE PRODUCTS?

You may have seen many posts on Facebook, tweets, and retweets on Twitter, forwarded messages on WhatsApp telling you to boycott Chinese products, this thing is buzzing on social media for a while now, mostly when there is any conflict in the India-china border. But if we think practically we get a few questions in our mind 1. Why should India really boycott Chinese products? 2. Is India really capable of boycotting Chinese products ? 3? If India really can boycott Chinese products then how can we do it? 4. Is India really capable of fulfilling the needs of consumers without importing anything from China? 5. If not China, who else can we import goods from?

BEFORE WE BEGIN:

Before we begin finding answers to these questions, we should know that China dominates many countries when it comes to electronics market, the largest importers of Chinese products include India, U.S, Hong Kong, Japan (no they've not stopped using it ), South Korea and Germany India is the seventh largest importer of Chinese products, which yearly imports products worth more than $60.0 billion.

WHY SHOULD INDIA REALLY BOYCOTT CHINESE PRODUCTS ?

It is a well-known fact that the Chinese economy mainly depends on its exports, that is if China wants its economy to be stable then it should make sure that the export business is going well, It is also well-known fact that China is supporting Pakistan ever since the independence, 'support' here means mainly in the financial terms. If the financial support of China to Pakistan was just in the national interest of both the countries (China and Pakistan ) then it would have been none of our business. But China is not only supporting Pakistan but it is also funding terrorist groups such as Lashkar-e-Taiba, Masood Azhar. As we all know these terrorist groups are the reason for Kashmir conflicts in recent times, now this is against the national interest of India. As I've already told the investment of Chinese in Pakistan in none of our business, at the same time the reason why China is funding terrorists is totally our business to deal with.

Why exactly is China funding terrorists?

Well, there are many reasons behind this.

1. INVESTMENTS

Just like any other economy, the Chinese economy has faced many ups and downs, for the past decade its economy is not that great (when compared to previous decades ), in other words, they have money but they are not getting much profit by investing it in their own country. Now there are two ways by which they can make a profit. First, to lend it to some other country (the interest will be the big profit ). Second, Invest in projects in some other country. China chose the second option and invested about $62 billion on a collection of infrastructural projects in Pakistan named China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). But unlike other countries Pakistan is not only ruled by the government but also by terrorists, now, unfortunately, most of the places where they planned to build these projects were controlled by terrorist groups. Now to make sure that their projects won't get affected badly by these terrorists China decided to maintain a friendly relationship with these terrorist organizations. How to maintain a friendly relation with a terrorist organization? Just fund them.

2.THE SUPERPOWER GAME

Many countries are competing to become the next superpower, India and China are also among them.To be superpower a country should be perfect in every aspect. China is making sure that there are communal conflicts and border issues in India by funding the terrorists, thus thinking of eliminating one of its biggest Asian competitor from being the next superpower

To summarise: Indians are buying Chinese products which improve Chinese economy, China is funding this money to terrorists which is very badly effecting peace across our border, in other words, we are spending our money to kill our own soldiers and people. Now as we've already discussed the Chinese economy mainly depends on its export business, it is like the backbone of the Chinese economy and we know that India is one of the largest importers of Chinese products. Now, what happens if India boycotts Chinese products? Obviously, its economy will collapse to such an extent that they won't be able to invest in Pakistan and they won't be able to fund the terrorists which will solve the issue of terrorism to a certain extent. The other reason to boycott Chinese product is because it's MADE IN CHINA and they export products which are not in good condition (I stopped trusting Chinese products when I was 8 or 9 years old when the Nintendo Game console that I bought never turned on just after bringing from the shop which had no warranty or guarantee, it still makes me angry :P )

IS INDIA REALLY CAPABLE OF BOYCOTTING CHINESE PRODUCTS ?

Well technically we can, but if we think logically it is not easy as it sounds, the number of Chinese products that are in the Indian market is technically more than Indian products itself (I'm speaking about electronic devices ), and even the devices manufactured in other countries or in India may contain peripherals made in China For Example Micromax smartphones which are made in India uses MediaTek processors which are made in China. This makes it really difficult to find a product that is purely not made in China. Now there are three questions that come to our mind

1. Why is Indian electronic market filled with Chinese products?

In the offline/online market, the sellers buy these Chinese products because they are cheap and sellers can sell these products to consumers by getting a huge profit, which they can't do if they sell Indian products as they cost a little more.

2. Why are Indian consumers attracted towards Chinese products?

Firstly it is cheap, Secondly, they provide more features at the same price as that of products made in others countries

3. How is that Chinese products are cheap and products of other countries cost a little more?

This is a question that made me think, rethink, rethink what I thought, rethink about the things that I thought , but at last the answer was very simple China is the largest exporter of electronic products, which means that they mass produce the products in a very very large quantity, now if we apply little common sense here the cost of a single product decreases when they are mass-produced in a very large quantity and also in certain cases they are exporting products that are not in good condition.

Now coming back to the main question Yes, India is capable of boycotting Chinese products but this can't happen overnight, this requires time and support from the sellers, consumers, and the government.India itself should be capable of mass producing these products which make it cheap so that if sellers get more profit they always tend to buy Indian products, and the consumers also get products at cheap prices.

HOW CAN INDIA BOYCOTT CHINESE PRODUCTS?

Let me clear one thing here no country in this world can legally boycott products from any other country unless there is a security threat from those products to that country, this will violate the trade union policies, So the government of India can legally or directly take no step towards boycotting the Chinese products, but the consumers and sellers in India have every right in boycotting these Chinese products As I've already told it can't be done overnight but it surely is possible if we follow certain procedures to boycott these products,

Here are things that can be done to boycott Chinese products

1. Gain trust from other countries, so that they agree to import our products and invest in our country ( Exactly what P.M Narendra Modi is doing by visiting other countries, Let us take a moment to salute him for his hard work )

2. After that, start mass producing those products in India ( Again exactly what MAKE IN INDIA project is for ), thereby ensuring that our sellers get cheap products and we are capable of exporting to other countries ( this won't be a problem for India with such good manpower and skilled labors)

3. Sell it at cheaper prices than that of Chinese products so that it can attract the sellers and consumers

4. Use a great marketing and advertising strategy to sell these products to bakras (fools), just like what Chinese phones like VIVO and OPPO are doing now.

After this Chinese products will automatically disappear from the Indian market and Chinese economy will collapse, at the same time India will have the good economic condition.

IS INDIA REALLY CAPABLE OF FULFILLING THE NEEDS OF ITS CONSUMERS?

What does a typical Indian consumer want?

A quality product at cheap price with great features If Indian companies can full fill these requirements then Indians won't even turn towards Chinese products. But, are Indian companies really capable of fulfilling these requirements? At present, the answer is NO, but in the future, if/when they start mass producing in huge quantity they surely can full fill these requirements.

IF NOT CHINA WHO ELSE CAN WE IMPORT GOODS FROM?

The best option is not to import from any country which can be done by manufacturing those products in India itself. But practically this takes a long time, for the time being, Taiwan is a great option, it has skilled workers and provides quality products, in fact, most of the peripherals used for making Chinese products are made in Taiwan, After Taiwan, United States is also a good option

CONCLUSION

In my view, we should not stop purchasing Chinese products, but first, we should rule them out of the Indian market by manufacturing those products in India itself. Once they are ruled out of the market no one's gonna buy it.
